Line of Events

A struggling writer finds herself at the center of the story she is working on when she is brutally attacked by a notorious cult leader and mass murderer, a man with an inexplicable control over his followers. The film starts off strong and then the plot thickens. I kept waiting for it to pick up, but the director/writer had other things in mind. I thought maybe it was designed to be slow-burning. But it turned out to be too slow and boring. We all looked at our watches to see which was slower: the film or the watch. The film is destroyed by the windshield wiper, leaving us wanting more. The weakness is the story. This could have been a truly exceptional film. What a wasted opportunity. The film fails to live up to the expectations placed in the trailer. The interest was in learning about the cult. And that was never stated beyond one sentence. Skip the film.
